Crothers Forever

How our surname was once spelled is not as important as who the ancestors were that bore the name.  As far as we know, there are no known descendants of Betty Crothers that bear the name Crothers any longer.  But no matter whether your name is Anderson, Haynes or Taylor, you are still a Crothers - FOREVER!.  Below are the children of Benjamin and Fredonia Crothers.

Louis Abraham Crothers

June 1901 - December 1981

The first child of Benjamin and Fredonia Crothers was born on June 27, 1901 in Vienna, Illinois.  Louis was married twice. He and his first wife, Ruth, were the first of our ancestors to move to Galesburg, Illinois.

His second wife, Betty Jane Armstrong, whom he married on June 23, 1959, was from Tulsa, Oklahoma. They moved west to California and after 30 years moved back to Illinois to be closer to his family.

While living in California, Louis was a chauffeur for Hollywood celebrities.  He also sang and played the clarinet in the church choir.

Louis had no children.

Gertrude Marie Crothers (Anderson)

April 1903 - May 1980

Marie was born on April 20, 1903 in Terre Haute, Indiana.  She married Willie Anderson on March 6, 1935. Willie was also from Terre Haute, Indiana.

Like all the Crothers children, Marie had a talent for music.

Marie and Willie had 3 children.  If your surname is Anderson, Maxwell, Johnson, Bridges, Watkins or Fullen, you most likely came from this branch of our family tree.

India enjoyed cooking, baking and even played guitar.

India and Clinton had 5 children.  If your surname is Haynes, Graves, Phillips, Wells, Tompkins, Williams, Jones, Davis, Nix, Turner, Ingram, Jackson, Woods, you most likely came from this branch of our family tree.

Frances was born on October 7, 1907 in Terre Haute, Indiana.  She married Lloyd Lucius Taylor on November 8, 1928 in Marshall, Illinois.  Lloyd is the son and fifth child of Henry and Della M. (Givens) Taylor.  Lloyd was from Mount Vernon, Indiana.

Frances enjoyed baking.  If she wasn't baking for her family, she was baking for the church (when they needed her).
